Frequently Asked Questions
I have ticklish feet would I cope with having reflexology?
The simple answer is yes! Reflexologists apply a firm pressure when working on the feet. Prior to the treatment I clean the feet (using wipes) and then give a warm up massage to get you used to the feel of my hands. I can, of course, always give a reflexology treatment on your hands if you prefer.
Can you have reflexology during pregnancy?
Absolutely! Reflexology can be very beneficial during pregnancy for aiding relaxation, de-stressing and improving your general well-being. It can be extremely relaxing as it helps your body to adjust to all the major hormonal changes that you are undergoing which can lead to morning sickness, insomnia, heartburn and general discomfort. As with all complementary therapies, it is recommended that you inform your midwife if you are thinking of trying reflexology while you are pregnant. Reflexology does not involve taking anything into the body that might affect the developing baby unlike some other forms of complementary therapies. You can sit or lie in a position that is comfortable for you during your treatment.
Can I have reflexology if there is nothing wrong with me?
Yes! Reflexology is a lovely way to have some well deserved "me" time and is great to maintain your general wellbeing and immunity. Many of my clients continue to have monthly treatments for this reason.
Does reflexology hurt?
During a reflexology treatment certain areas of your feet may feel tender when the congested reflex areas are treated. As a reflexologist I always check with my clients if the pressure is ok and ask them to let me know if it is too painful. I can adapt my pressure to suit the pain levels of my client if needed. The pain clients feel is usually likened to a bruise. As the condition improves with several reflexology sessions, so will the soreness on the corresponding reflexes.
How often should you have reflexology?
You are more likely to see greater benefits if you have regular sessions such as weekly treatments for the first 4-6 weeks rather than one every 2 months or so. Many of my clients start with 6 weeks and then if there's an improvement move to monthly.
Can reflexology boost your immune system?
It is a well known fact that your immune system can be affected by stress and tension. Reflexology has been found to be beneficial for relaxing the body. If your body is relaxed then you are naturally less stressed or tense which is of benefit to your immune system.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
If you find it necessary to cancel your appointment, I would be grateful if you could let me know as soon as possible. 48 hours notice will incur a £25 cancellation fee. 24 hours or less will incur the full treatment value. Thank you for your understanding.
